Strengthening partnership with Africa is one of the priorities of the new European Commission, and relations between the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU) are now much more important to both organizations than in the previous decade. The challenges in mutual relations result from the enormous cultural diversity, but also from the divergence of interests within both continents.
