On 27-28 November 2014 the POLAND AFRICA 2014 Congress took place in Łódź. It was attended by representatives of the Polish government and the governments of African states as well as national investment agencies, representatives of local government and business organizations, ambassadors of African countries and entrepreneurs from Africa and Poland. The main goal of the Congress was to promote development of business relations between Poland and Africa. For this event, in cooperation with THINKTANK, CIR prepared a Lexicon of African Countries in English. The organizers of the Congress recognized potential, good offer and attractiveness of all African countries, which in their opinion should have better access to the European market in order to increase their competitiveness and enjoy benefits of increased trade volume. The Congress also included an expo where Polish and African companies showed their offer and opportunities.
The Congress agenda included a plenary session followed by thematic sessions related to the Agriculture and Food Industry, Civil Engineering and Construction, Geology, Mining, Energy and Ecology, Machinery and Equipment, Healthcare, IT, Science and Education as well as the SME sector. Participants explored challenges that SME companies face in the light of their development and international expansion and improving the quality and competitiveness of their products and services.
Among the organizers of the event were: the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Łódź together with the African Institute, the Łódz Regional Development Agency and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAlilZ).
