According to a Eurostat survey, 72 percent of EU citizens want the EU to become involved in developing a new framework for asylum and migration policy. The experiences of 2015-16 shocked Europe. Therefore, in September 2020, the European Commission presented a draft pact on migration and asylum. Now, extensive political and social consultations are taking place on this matter.
