“The people of Poland support Ukraine in a collective way. We have not compromised like Hungary” – said Adam Bodnar, expert at the CIR, on TVN24 [10.11.2022]

Bodnar assesess the controversial March of Independence stating there is not only scandal to be found in it but also a certain degree of expressing good patriotism when thinking about the geopolitical context. According to Bodnar, this MoI is also a gathering that shows Polishness, independence and territorial sovereignty which consitute a commonly shared orientation and set of values amongst Poles. This possess a uniting power.

The Polish people are collectively opposed to Russia and its imperial intentions. Collectively, the Polish people support Ukraine. We have not compromised like Hungary. All leading political forces speak with the same voice. On this issue, the government and, above all, civil society have assisted the refugees from Ukraine.

These are the kinds of things that show that Polishness and independence, territorial sovereignty, but a certain shared value orientation, is something that unites us and that is worth celebrating – prof. Adam Bodnar concluded.
