“Poland and the entire region have certainly become the center of attention as support for Ukraine has become part of the American, NATO, and EU strategy to counter Russia,” writes Eugeniusz Smolar in an article for the “American Purpose” portal [12.07.2023]
The attention is also heightened due to the global competition with China. However, the increase in concern, attention, and deepening of military cooperation does not translate into “shifting [Poland] more towards the center of gravity in Europe.” The reason behind this is the lack of trust between Poland and its European partners, according to CIR expert Eugeniusz Smolar.
