Dr Bonikowska, the President of CIR, highlighted that one of the greatest challenges facing the EU is to reorganize its internal thinking about economic growth in light of rising tensions in the East.
She emphasized the importance of boosting local production and becoming less reliant on uncertain suppliers. When asked about the issue of illegal border crossings between France and the UK, Dr Bonikowska stated that while Rishi Sunak and Emmanuel Macron could discuss the matter, a broader European agreement regarding EU borders and migration needs to be reached.
However, the number of migrants attempting to illegally enter the UK is unprecedented, and the British government needs to address this issue more rapidly than the EU typically does.
