The Center for International Relations and European Commission Representation in Poland invite you to an on-line debate „Economic migrants in Poland: facts and myths”, which will take place on July 2, 2020 at 9.00 a.m. Streaming of the meeting will be available on Facebook profiles: @komisjaeuropejska and @ CIR.CSM.
Representatives of the business community, especially companies employing foreign workers, central and local government administration and the media will take part in the debate.
In September this year a „European conference” has been launched to inspire the discussion of citizens of the Member States on topics important to the EU and its citizens. One of such topics is migration. Poland is among the EU countries that are skeptical about the current EU migration policy and are against accepting immigrants. At the same time, our country issues the biggest number of work permits for foreigners among the EU27 (about 450,000 in 2019). According to the data of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, Ukrainians were issued with the most work permits in 2018 (238,334). Over 19 thousand permits were granted also to Nepalese (19,912) and Belarusians (19,233).
During the debate we will talk about:
- the situation of economic migrants in Poland and other EU countries,
- employing foreigners in Polish companies and institutions as well as related procedures and the visa process.
Our aim is a debate among leaders of administration and business on strategic assumptions of the Polish policy on economic migration to Poland for the coming years and to develop recommendations to be used by the Polish administration and EU institutions in planning and implementing long-term immigration policy.
We invite you on Thursday, July 2 at 9:00 on Facebook profiles @komisjaeuropejska and @ CIR.CSM.
