Dr Bartłomiej Nowak noted that there appears to be a clear undermining of American policy towards Ukraine by members of the Republican party. As a result, there is an opportunity for lobbying by Europeans, diplomacy, and direct relations between leaders to play a key role.
Regarding the meeting between Ursula von der Leyen and Joe Biden on March 10, 2023, Dr Nowak stated that the most important task for the President of the European Commission was to ensure that European companies could benefit from the inflation reduction act introduced by the American President. During the negotiations, Ursula von der Leyen proved herself to be the primary point of contact for discussions about European-American relations.
