Warsaw Security Forum 2025 – Europe and the Indo-Pacific: A Shared Security Horizon

The Warsaw Security Forum (WSF) is one of Europe’s leading conferences on transatlantic and Central and Eastern European (CEE) security. Since 2014, it has gathered over 2,500 global leaders – representatives of governments, international organizations, armed forces, think tanks, and business.
The Forum features high-level strategic debates, the prestigious Knight of Freedom Award, and the New Security Leaders programme. It is organized by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation in cooperation with NATO and Poland’s National Security Bureau (BBN).

On 29 September 2025, at 16:45, during the first day of the Warsaw Security Forum, a Town Hall Discussion titled “Europe and the Indo-Pacific: A Shared Security Horizon” took place, moderated by Dr Małgorzata Bonikowska, President of the Centre for International Relations (CSM).
CSM acted as a substantive partner of the event, co-organizing the session devoted to strategic cooperation and shared security challenges between Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

The discussion brought together distinguished speakers and decision-makers from Europe, the United States, and Asia:

  • Gen. (R) David H. Petraeus – former Director of the CIA (2011–2012), member of the WSF International Advisory Council,
  • Delphine Pronk – Chair of the Political and Security Committee (PSC), European Union,
  • Natalia Pouzyreff – Member of the French National Assembly, Co-President of the French Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly,
  • Shairee Malhotra – Deputy Director, Strategic Studies Programme, Observer Research Foundation, India.

The debate addressed the most pressing security challenges – from the war in Ukraine to growing tensions in the Indo-Pacific. Speakers discussed how Europe and its Asian partners – including Japan, Taiwan, and India – can jointly strengthen democratic resilience and respond to hybrid, cyber, and military threats.

Today, the Warsaw Security Forum stands as one of the most influential gatherings shaping the future of European and transatlantic security. Each year, it unites political, military, and academic leaders to seek common responses to global challenges in an era of geopolitical turbulence.

As Dr Małgorzata Bonikowska emphasized, “shared security begins with shared understanding – Europe and the Indo-Pacific are becoming increasingly interconnected, and the future of transatlantic stability also depends on Asia’s security.”

➡️ The panel co-organized by the Centre for International Relations (CSM) was an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of Euro-Atlantic partnerships and cooperation with Asian countries in maintaining global balance and peace.
