When Russia invaded Ukraine, Albright published an essay in the New York Times where she shared her impressions of the talks with Putin. In her opinion, the president of Russia has previously done a lot to strengthen his country, weaken and divide the West and spread many lies around the world. But the decision to invade Ukraine was his biggest mistake, and it would destroy what he planned to achieve. The West will unite in the face of a common enemy and liberate itself from energy dependence on Moscow, Putin will lose reputation and power, and Russia will fall into an economic abyss and a diplomatic isolation. This was Madeleine Albright’s last piece – writes Dr. Małgorzata Bonikowska.
