Witold Śmidowski
Polish political scientist, orientalist specialising in Central Asian countries, diplomat.
From 1993 to 1996, he served as vice-president of the multibranch enterprise “Telwolt” in Sandomierz. In 1996, he moved to the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, where he became deputy director and then director of the National Security Council Service Department. After an internship at the Polish embassy in Islamabad, in 2002 he was appointed Polish ambassador to Iran (with simultaneous accreditation for Turkmenistan). In 2008, he returned to the MFA headquarters. From 2011 to 2017, he was ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Saudi Arabia (with accreditation for Oman).
