“India is using the G20 presidency for political and marketing purposes to strengthen its position on the international stage. India is perceived by the West and the United States as a growing power. However, to achieve this, India must distance itself from its longstanding friendship with Russia and position itself as a counter to China. During the broadcast, Dr. Małgorzata Bonikowska emphasized the importance of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States. She explained the advantages and disadvantages of India, including its cultural, religious, and political diversity, in order to transform into a regional powerhouse. India is trying to leverage its G20 presidency to not only advocate for its interests but also become a leader of the Global South.
