Another episode of Warsaw Debate! Can nuclear weapons keep the peace?

This time the Warsaw Debate has taken the thesis: “Only nuclear weapons can secure a lasting peace” and the guests of hosts dr Małgorzata Bonikowska, CIR’s President, and Grzegorz Nawrocki, from TVP World, have tried to defend or deny it.

Those in favor were: Prof. Ken Jimbo – senior fellow at the International House of Japan and Professor at Keio University, Tokyo. An authority on Asia-Pacific strategy and defense and Prof. Jagannath Panda – director at the Institute for Security and Development Policy in Sweden, and researcher at the University of Warsaw. A leading voice on Indo-Pacific dynamics and global security.

Those against were: Wojciech Lorenz – head of the International Security Program at the Polish Institute of International Affairs. Specialist in NATO strategy, deterrence, and arms control and Prof. Delphine Allès – professor at INALCO, France. Expert in diplomacy, global governance, and the moral dilemmas of international security.

We were joined online by Łukasz Kulesa from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), U.K., who wrapped up the debate.
