The Konrad Adenauer Foundation has implemented a project, which aimed at conducting a regular dialogue between Europe and Asia (especially Eastern Asia) and at improving cooperation between the continents. For the last fifteen years, representatives of international think tanks and research institutes have met alternately in one of the European or Asian countries to exchange ideas and experiences regarding transcontinental issues. In 2011, the dialogue session took place in Warsaw. The CIR took part in this EU-co-financed project.

The idea of dialogue came forward in the „Asian crisis” times in the 1990s, when contacts between Europe and Asia were sporadic. The Institute of Strategic Studies and Development from Manila in the Philippines became a co-initiator and partner of the project.

The dialogue session, which took place on October 28-29, 2013 in Istanbul, focused primarily on Turkey’s role as a link between Europe and Asia. The seminar was attended by the President of the Center for International Relations, Dr. Małgorzata Bonikowska, who gave a short speech on behalf of CIR.
