The Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) is a scholarship program of the German Marshall Fund of the U.S. for young policy- and opinion-makers from 14 European countries and the United States. The program is aimed to give selected applicants an in-depth understanding of societies, institutions, and peoples across the Atlantic. During the 3-4 week traveling program, Fellows from both sides of the Atlantic develop a broad knowledge of political, economic, cultural, and social issues in their host countries.
Polish Fellows travel in multinational groups of 18-21 European Fellows to Washington, DC and are then divided into smaller groups, which continue their travel to four geographically and demographically different cities and towns across the U.S., completing their Fellowship in New York.
Marshall Memorial Fellows are selected annually through a competitive national process in fourteen European countries, also in Poland. Candidates must be nominated for the program by a recognized leader in their community.
Candidates should:
- be appointed by program nominators
- be between the ages of 28 and 40
- be citizens or permanent residents of Poland
- have an outstanding record of achievement in their profession
- demonstrate clear leadership skills, intellectual curiosity, independence, maturity, and initiative
- have a strong record of civic involvement and be well-positioned to be influential within their own societies in the coming years
- speak English fluently
