CIR Reports and Analyses – ‘Three Future Scenarios for the Conflict in Afghanistan: A Regional Perspective’

The Center for International Relations announces the publication of the above report. As the title suggests, the report examines the conflict in Afghanistan from a regional perspective. Specifically, it endeavours to determine which of three foreseeable scenarios would best serve the interests of the regions main actors, namely Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Central Asia and China.

Considering the importance of a regional approach in stabilizing Afghanistan, and thereby the withdrawal of international forces from the country, the reports findings have a number of implications for NATO, as well as those members currently contributing to the ISAF mission, Poland among them. The report was edited by Andrzej Ananicz, currently the Director of the Diplomatic Academy at the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM).
